International Certification Actions
Determine Eligibility: Program is accepted as eligible for candidacy. This is the first step toward international certification of a degree program in architecture.
Award Candidacy: Program is granted candidacy. This is the second step toward international certification. Programs may remain in candidacy for a maximum of three years.
Award International Certification: Program provided sufficient information to meet all conditions and is granted a period of International Certification.
Initial International Certification: International Certification may be granted for a period of six years or a six-year term with a 3-year Interim Progress Report (see below).
Continuing International Certification: Programs that have completed the first six-year term of International Certification seeking a subsequent term of continuing International Certification may receive another six-year term if they meet all conditions, or a six-year term with a 3-year Interim Progress Report (see below).
Award International Certification with a 3-year Interim Progress Report: Program is awarded International Certification with certain conditions unmet and must submit an adequate report to the Board evidencing that these conditions have been addressed. The Board will determine whether satisfactory progress has been made in addressing the deficiencies outlined in the VTR report.
Revocation of International Certification: International Certification may be revoked (a) if a program fails to correct cited issues by another accrediting, quality assurance, national, or state agency, or (b) if a program fails to submit an IPR.
