President
Stephen Schreiber, FAIA, NCARB, DPACSA

Schreiber is a Professor and founding Chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. A graduate of Dartmouth College (B.A.) and Harvard University (M.Arch.), Schreiber has served as dean at the University of South Florida, and chair at the University of New Mexico. His professional architecture work and research have been published in numerous journals and newspapers. Schreiber has been President of the ACSA and Regional Director of NCARB. He has been honored as AIA Fellow (FAIA) and ACSA Distinguished Professor (DPACSA). In 2018, Schreiber was elected to the inaugural city council of Amherst, a community of 41,000 residents.

President-elect
Jeffrey L. Day, FAIA, NCARB

Day is a Douglass Professor of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, founding principal of Actual Architecture Company and formerly, principal of the San Francisco and Omaha-based firm Min | Day. Day is a graduate of Harvard College and U.C. Berkeley where he received his M.Arch degree. At UNL Day runs FACT, an interdisciplinary designbuild studio, and he served as Director of the Architecture Program (2012-2017). Day has garnered numerous awards including a 2019 Progressive Architecture Award, the Architectural League of New York’s 2016 Emerging Voices, Architectural Record’s 2009 Design Vanguard, and over 80 national, regional, and state design awards.

Treasurer
Michael Hricak, FAIA, NCARB

Practitioner and teacher, Hricak balances a practice distinguished by the diversity and quality of its work, honored with numerous design awards, with a dedication to design education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, from the University of Southern California and a Master in Architecture from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. A past director of AIA/National and an AIA/California regional director, he has also served as president of AIA/California and AIA/Los Angeles. He edited the Architecture Students’ Handbook of Professional Practice, 14th Edition, also serving on the 15th Edition. He is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at USC.

Secretary
Carmina Sánchez-del-Valle, Arch. D., DPACSA, R.A., CAAPPR

Sánchez-del-Valle is Professor of Architecture at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. She previously held appointments at the Florida A&M University and at the University of Kansas. Her teaching and research consider the representation and organization of design information through traditional and digital means from small scale modeling and simulation to urban mapping, the design process, and collaborative interdisciplinary work. She received a professional degree in Architecture from the University of Puerto Rico, and a doctoral degree from the University of Michigan. Sánchez-del-Valle has served on the ACSA and AIAS Board of Directors and has participated in many NAAB visits nationally and internationally.

Yiselle Santos Rivera, AIA, NOMA, NCARB, LSSYB, LEED AP BD+ C, WELL AP
Washington, DC

Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Santos Rivera is a Principal and Global Director of Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion at HKS. She is an activist architect who works to dismantle barriers for underserved communities and amplifies underrepresented voices by designing inclusive spaces where all belong. She founded the LA.IDEA Committee at AIA|DC, the award-winning WIELD Event, and contributed to the book Latinas in Architecture. She served as 2020 AIA National Board member, 2021-22 NOMA R&D Chair, and 2023 AIA|DC Chapter President. Santos Rivera is the recipient of the 2018 AIA Associate Award, 2019 AIA Diversity Program Recognition Award, 2022 AIA Young Architect Award, and was named to Top 50 Women Leaders in DC.

Mark Mistur, AIA
Kent, OH

Mistur is the Dean of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Kent State University. He studied at the ETH in Switzerland and at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York where he his teaching and research focused on innovations driven by interdisciplinary collaboration and performance criteria, and the human experience. He was instrumental in the startup of the Center for Architecture Science and Ecology [CASE], was thrice named one of 25 Most Admired Educators by Design Intelligence, has served on the ACSA Leadership Committee, the AIA Continuing Education Committee and is author of the book, ‘The Architecture of EMPAC: The Tangible and the Tantalizing’.

Lisa Chronister, FAIA, AICP, LEED AP
Oklahoma City, OK

Chronister is the Assistant Director of the Oklahoma City Planning Department where she leverages her architectural expertise to influence public decision-making regarding development projects. Before joining the Planning Department, she worked for over two decades in traditional architectural practice in both Oklahoma City and New York. She has also devoted her time and talent to teaching, mentoring, and professional service, including service as a longtime AIA representative to NAAB visiting teams. Chronister earned a Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oklahoma.

Shillpa Kumar, AIAS
Arlington, TX

Kumar is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington with a minor in Economics. She has served her local AIAS chapter as the director of the mentorship program and as the AIAS National Ethics Committee chair. Kumar is currently participating in the 2023 AIAS Crit Scholar research-based fellowship program in partnership with AIA, focusing on vernacular indigenous typologies in Texas. She has served on a NAAB site visit, and has worked at Pistil Consortia, a boutique architecture firm in Flower Mound, Texas.

Janet L. Hansen, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP
Yarmouth, ME

Hansen is a retired architect and former principal at SMRT Architects and Engineers in Portland, Maine. She received her B.Arch. from the Boston Architectural Center (now College) in 1982.  Her career took her from Massachusetts to Indiana, Texas, London and finally to Maine in 1992. She became a member of the Maine Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design Board in 1996. She began writing items for the ARE in 2001.  This involvement with NCARB led to becoming the Region 1 Director on the NCARB Board from 2020-23. Hansen has participated in seven domestic and two international NAAB accreditation visits, chairing two.

Claire Dixon-Lee, PhD, RHIA, CPH, FAHIMA
Sarasota, FL

Dixon-Lee was founding CEO of CAHIIM, accreditation organization for health informatics (HI) and health information management (HIM) programs, is a past President of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and is a former President of MC Strategies, Inc., web-based learning management systems corporation. Her academic career included department head, HIM program director and associate professor in public health informatics. She presents nationally and internationally on aspects of electronic health records, accreditation quality, and competency-based outcomes assessment in higher education. Dixon-Lee earned an MS in Epidemiology from SUNY at Buffalo and PhD in Public Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
