Call for At-Large NAAB Standards Revision Committee Member Nominations

November 6, 2025

NAAB invites nominations for at-large members to serve on the Standards Revision Committee (SRC)an ad hoc body that will guide the development of the revision of NAAB’s accreditation criteria (2020 Conditions and 2020 Procedures).

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of architectural accreditation by contributing to a thoughtful, inclusive, and transparent standards revision process.

About the SRC

Launching in February 2026, the SRC will lead a comprehensive, multi-year review of NAAB’s accreditation standards. The Committee is responsible for:

  • Reviewing stakeholder feedback collected through surveys, sessions, and other engagement channels.
  • Drafting proposed revisions to the 2020 Conditions for Accreditation.
  • Considering public comments and recommending refinements prior to final adoption.

The committee is anticipated to operate February 2026–December 2027, and the expected time commitment of committee members is 25 hours a month. Work will largely be done virtually, with one in-person meeting scheduled for August 14–15, 2026.

Committee Composition

The SRC will consist of 11 members, including:

  • Three members appointed from the NAAB Board of Directors.
  • Four at-large members selected through this open nomination process, one of whom will be a public member with expertise in accreditation and/or assessment.
  • Four members nominated by NAAB’s collateral organizations (ACSA, AIA, AIAS, NCARB).

To assist the SRC in navigating today’s rapidly evolving global, professional, and accreditation landscape—shaped by shifting policies, social dynamics, technologies, and economic and environmental pressures—the SRC will be supported by a consultant throughout the process.

Qualifications for Nominees

Professional members of the SRC shall:

  • Be educators, practitioners, or regulators in the field of architecture, or recent graduates (0–5 years) of a NAAB-accredited program; and
  • Have experience with NAAB accreditation under the 2020 Conditions for Accreditation as a site visitor, Accreditation Review Committee member, faculty in an accredited program, or current or former NAAB board member.

The public member of the SRC shall have expertise in programmatic accreditation and/or assessment within a higher education context.

SRC members shall not serve on the national boards or committees of related organizations within the field of architecture or on the national boards or committees of other accreditors.
