As my term as president of the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) comes to a close, I reflect with immense pride on the achievements and progress we have made together. Over the past few years, NAAB has worked diligently to ensure that our accreditation processes remain responsive, transparent, and aligned with the ever-evolving respective needs of educational institutions as well as the profession.
Architectural education and practice continue to evolve, and NAAB has been at the forefront of shaping that future. We have made significant strides in updating our accreditation criteria to address evolving issues of sustainability, belonging, and technology—key areas that will set the stage for the next generation of architects. Our ongoing collaborations with architecture programs have fostered valuable exchange of knowledge, further aligning the objectives of academia and the profession.
Looking ahead, NAAB remains committed to promoting excellence in architectural education. We will continue to refine our accreditation processes to address emerging global challenges, from climate change and technological advancement to the increasing role of artificial intelligence in the profession. NAAB, working in collaboration with ACSA, AIA, AIAS, NCARB, and NOMA, is dedicated to addressing these concerns and ensuring that the field of architecture evolves in a way that supports both the profession and the broader public good.
None of this progress would have been possible without the dedication and tireless efforts of our volunteers, staff, and all of our stakeholders. I am deeply grateful for your contributions and for the trust you have placed in me during my term as president.
I am confident in the continued growth and success of NAAB. The work we’ve done together has set a strong foundation, and I look forward to the continued evolution of architectural education and accreditation in the years ahead. Thank you for the honor of serving as your president and for your unwavering commitment to the advancement of architectural education and practice.
