Start by visiting ARCHCareers.org to learn the steps to becoming an architect including education, experience, and examination.  Another excellent source is Becoming an Architect: A Guide to Careers in Design 2nd Edition published by J. Wiley & Sons (2010). 

Visit the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) to learn more about design competitions, Freedom by Design, and other programs targeted for architecture students.

Visit the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture website (ACSA) to access A Student's Guide to Education including information on architectural education, becoming an architect, and selecting a school.  Another resource available from ACSA is the online version of Guide to Architecture Schools which provides listings of architecture programs. 

All students and interns should see the American Institute of Architects website (AIA) to find resources on mentoring, to find your Intern Development Program (IDP) Educator Coordinator or IDP State Coordinator, to learn about IDP Support, to learn about opportunities for Supplementary Education in the IDP, and to find Architect Registration Examination (ARE) Support.
 
Current students, interns, and  foreign architects should visit the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards website (NCARB) to find each state’s requirements for licensure, to request a IDP packet, open a NCARB Record, to learn more about the IDP, the Architect Registration Examination (ARE), and to inquire about how foreign architects seek licensure in the US.
